"Hypnotherapy patients
more likely to be non-smokers"
(Latest
medical evidence from
American chest physicians)
|
Hospitalized patients who smoke may be more likely to
quit smoking
through the use of
hypnotherapy
than patients using
other
smoking cessation
methods. A new study presented at CHEST 2007, the 73rd
annual international scientific assembly of the American
College of Chest Physicians (ACCP), shows that smoking
patients who participated in
one
hypnotherapy session
were more likely to be
non-smokers
at 6 months compared with patients using
nicotine
replacement therapy
alone
or patients who quit “cold turkey” |

What
clients say...
"When I arrived to see you two months ago I had been
made redundant, was over twenty stone and smoked over
twenty cigarettes a day. Now two months on, just as you
said, I still have no desire for a cigarette even when I
am in the most stressful situations. It just feels so
good.
Yesterday I cycled over 20 miles. I got on the scales today and I have
lost eight pounds which equates to about two pounds per week.

"It's no exaggeration to say that David is an outstanding
practitioner. Having worked with him to stop smoking and other personal
challenges David's intervention had an immediate, lasting and profound impact,
helping me to make changes that had previously been slow to realise. The
investment in time and money was certainly very well spent."

What is hypnotherapy?
Literally it is therapy
carried out whilst in hypnosis.
As such, hypnotherapy is a kind of psychotherapy.
What is
hypnosis?
Whilst the person being hypnotised appears to be in a deep sleep, nothing could
be further from the truth. Hypnosis does involve the induction of a trance-like
state, however the client is actually in an heightened state of awareness,
concentrating entirely on the hypnotist’s voice. In this state, the conscious
mind is suppressed and the subconscious mind is revealed. This then allows the
therapist is able to suggest ideas to the client, the seeds of
which become firmly planted in the subconscious.
How does hypnosis
work?
Hypnosis is thought
to work by altering our state of consciousness in such a way that
the analytical left-hand side of the brain is turned off, while the
non-analytical right-hand side is made more alert. The conscious control of the
mind is thus inhibited, and this allows the subconscious mind to be accessed The
subconscious mind is like the filing system in an office
containing all your memories and experiences and this is the part
which has to change for the patient’s behaviour and physical state to alter.
